The Oscar-winning Best Supporting Actress, 89-year-old Olympia Dukakis passed away on Saturday, May 1st.
Dukakis's agent, Allison Levy, and her daughter Christina Zorich said she had been in good health for months and passed away at her home in New York on Saturday.
Olympia Mary Dukakis, the Greek American actress, director, producer, teacher, and activist was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the Greek parents of Alexandra and Constantine. She is a cousin of Micheal Dukakis, a candidate who failed the U.S. Democratic presidential in 1988.
As a girl who excels at sports, she was a three-time New England fencing champion in her school life. She has earned a BA for physical therapy and a Master of Fine Arts degree. This shows that she was also at a very high level in terms of education.

In the journey of Dukakis's career life, her performance has taken a place in over 130 stage productions, over 60 films, and 50 television series. She is best known as a screen actress.
In the year 2020, a feature documentary about her life, Olympia, was dramatically released in the United States.
Dukakis won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress to these films:
Steel Magnolias, Mr. Holland's Opus, Jane Austen's Mafia!, The Thing About My Folks and Moonstruck.
In addition to the Oscar Award, she also won the Golden Award as the Best-Supporting Actress for the film, "Moonstruck" which is one of Hollywood's great romantic comedies. She acts in that film as a middle-aged mother who gives advice to her daughter on love matters.
